In late November and early December, queues were at a minimum for chassis or engine number registrations at Vehicle Registration Office 2 in Hanoi, albeit there was an influx of people with car registration requests.
Police officers have been showing applicants how to use the online service, ensuring smooth operations.
Major Do Duy Phuong, an officer at the Vehicle Registration Office 2, explained that online requests submitted via the public service portal allow the department to schedule appointments. Upon arrival, citizens simply present the required documents to complete the process.
According to Phuong, when citizens request an appointment through the portal, the process of assigning licence plates and issuing registration receipts takes less than five minutes.
For those unfamiliar with the online system, traffic police provide printed step-by-step guides to assist with account setup and obtaining an appointment.
Currently, Hanoi has more than 8.15 million registered vehicles, including over 1.16 million cars, nearly seven million motorcycles, and 80 tricycles.
In November alone, Hanoi Traffic Police registered around 16,000 new vehicles, with more than 8,500 cars and around 7,500 motorbikes, bringing the total number of managed vehicles to more than 8.15 million.
To further strengthen vehicle registration and management, the department has provided professional training for 574 officers across various units, districts, and towns. These sessions focus on the effective use of vehicle registration software for officers tasked with registration duties.
The leadership of Hanoi Traffic Police emphasised that vehicle registration is a crucial administrative process for managing motor vehicles and ensuring traffic safety and order. As such, officers in this role must possess advanced professional skills and a thorough understanding of the legal frameworks governing their responsibilities.
