It has made a delightful discovery of a fully functioning model from 1988. The washer, which completed approximately 2,600 cycles in a quarter century of service, is still in perfectly good working order. It was one of the first home appliances purchased by a young couple in the same year that Seoul hosted the Summer Olympic Games.
The proud owners expressed great appreciation and affection for the durable old washer that had been a part of their lives for over two decades. LG was pleasantly surprised when it received the donation of a well-used LG washer from Seoul residents Tae-sung Lee and his wife Chan-soon Jeon.
The married couple purchased their LG washing machine in 1988, using it on average twice a week for the next twenty-five years, washing approximately 10 tonnes of laundry over that period.
When first released, the five kilogramme capacity washer was the largest available in Korea. Offering an unprecedented level of gentleness and efficiency, LG’s machine was also one of the first to display a self-diagnosis warning when a problem occurred.
“As is clearly demonstrated by this find, LG has always built washing machines that provide superior durability and performance,” said LG Electronics Washing Machine Division’s executive vice president Seong-jin Jo. “LG has remained true to its customer-focused philosophy, delivering products that can withstand rigorous usage and the test of time. We guarantee the effectiveness and longevity of our latest washers with six Motion Direct Drive technology and the Inverter Direct Drive motor, by offering a full 10 year warranty.”
