InterContinental Hotels says profits up 54 per cent

InterContinental Hotels Group said on Tuesday that its net profits jumped by 54 per cent in the third quarter.

The company, which owns the InterContinental, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn chains of hotels, said profit after tax increased to $103 million (74 million euros) in the three months to September 30 from a year earlier.

Sales jumped five per cent to $421 million.
