City operators offer delta ‘flooding’ tours

Beginning later this month, a number of Mekong Delta provinces will experience the flooding season and to give visitors a chance to experience life during this fascinating time of the year, city tourist agencies are offering special trips, and especially destinations in An Giang.

Vietravel Company offers a two-day tour which consists of Ho Chi Minh City-An Giang-raft villages (which raise fish) trip and a separate 48-hour tour departing from Long Xuyen City, An Giang to the raft villages. Travelers will experience cultural features of the delta after shopping in An Giang floating market and the brocade-weaving craft village of Cham people.

Travelers will also come to Tra Su Forest in Tinh Bien district to cruise on a wooden boat and drift along cajuput trees to witness how delta residents catch linh fish, a specialty of the flooding season. The tour is priced at VND1.79 million for guests departing from HCMC and VND1.29 million for those departing from Long Xuyen city. The company is located at 190 Pasteur street in District 3.

Also, Saigontourist Travel Service Company has two tours for the flooding season, not only taking tourists to An Giang, but also to Can Tho, My Tho, Tien Giang, An Giang and Ha Tien. A four-day-and-three-night tour to My Tho-Ben Tre-Can Tho-Chau Doc-Ha Tien departing on September 27 and 29, October 4, 6, 11, 13, 18, 20, 25, 27 and November 1, 3, 8, 10 will cost from VND3 million to VND4 million per tourist.

Another tour to My Tho-Ben Tre-Can Tho-Chau Doc, departing on September 29, October 13 and 27, November 10, for three days and two nights costs from VND2.5 million to VND3 million per guest. The company is located at 45 Le Thanh Ton Street in District 1.
