Carlsberg introduced the ZerO2 Cap for market-leading freshness |
"Fresh" is one of the factors defining better beer. Accordingly, Carlsberg always aspires to find ways of keeping their bottled beer fresher for as long as possible – and to secure better beer quality, it is important to control the amount of oxygen in the bottle. When beer is exposed to oxygen, it begins to oxidise, resulting in unwanted flavours. To counter this, Carlsberg came up with the ZerO2 cap.
The ZerO2 cap works through its use of an oxygen scavenger liner of the cap. The compound actively absorbs oxygen and removes it from the head space in the bottle. This reduces flavour oxidation, allowing this cap to perform up to 15 per cent better than standard bottle lids over the full shelf life of a product. This allows the beer to stay fresher for a longer period of time. In Vietnam, the cap has been introduced on Carlsberg Premium Smooth Draught – one of Carlsberg’s key products.
Since its establishment, Carlsberg has always strived for better – both in terms of beer quality and experiences. The “Golden Words” of dedication, orderliness, and ambition from Carlsberg founder J.C. Jacobsen have been a guiding light in helping Carlsberg to constantly perfect the art of brewing with a focus on brewing technology. Proof of this can be seen in the ground-breaking discovery of purified yeast, the use of the pH scale, and recently, the invention of ZerO2 cap.
Improvements are the daily evidence of the company’s efforts and are grounded in the brand’s heritage. Carlsberg has a wealth of “Betterment” examples that began with J. C. Jacobsen and have continued in the intervening 170 years. Carlsberg has always set themselves a challenge – making beer even better, proving their strong commitment to being “Probably the best beer in the world”.
The iconic Carlsberg Premium Smooth Draught also proves this quality-focused spirit. The bottled brew delivers the same silky smoothness of freshly-tapped beer. Therefore, it is a great option for Asian beer drinkers who always seek beers that suit their tastes and are available almost everywhere. With ZerO2 cap added to Carlsberg Premium Smooth Draught, Carlsberg once again achieves another milestone on the journey to pursue betterments – which is living proof of the fundamentals of the brand's DNA.
“At Carlsberg, we’re consistently striving to do better, and while there are big things we can do in our operations, in our communities, and in our production that can make a difference, we also believe that attention to small details can have a major impact on what we deliver to society. Our new ZerO2 bottle cap is in many ways a culmination of this belief. We discovered that by rethinking how we design the lids of our bottles, we could deliver an even better product to consumers – which just goes to show that no detail can be overlooked on the path to progress,” said Stefano Clini, managing director, Carlsberg Vietnam.
