The construction of the plant is being organised this month by BYD, which is one of the major iPad assembly partners.
Located in Phu Ha industrial park (IP), the expanded plant has a total investment capital of $183.7 million, including lines specialising in manufacturing electronic components with ceramic, glass, and metal components, as well as graphics boards at a cost of $178.2 million. There will also be a $5.5 million line manufacturing batteries for tablets and mobile phones.
This is an expansion for BYD Electronics, following the first phase that had a total investment capital of $269 million.
The Management Board for IPs in Phu Tho province granted the investment registration certificate to BYD Electronics to implement the project in two phases in September 2021.
The BYD Vietnam factory phase 1 went into operation in July 2022, including a factory area of 200,000 square metres and an annual capacity of 4.32 million tablets and 50 million optical prism products.
