Bao Viet among Vietnam’s Top 10 Sustainable Companies

Insurer Bao Viet Holdings was named among the Top 10 Sustainable Companies 2016 by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD).

The 2016 list of Top 100 Sustainable Companies was announced on November 8.

“Sustainable development is one of the primary aims of Bao Viet. We are honoured to see our efforts recognised,” said chairman Dao Dinh Thi.

He also expressed the hope that the ranking will motivate the Vietnamese business community to grow sustainably so that their products will be competitive worldwide and they will be a pride of the Vietnamese people.

In the first nine months of 2016, Bao Viet recorded a consolidated revenue growth of 21.8 per cent. The company was named among the 1,000 highest corporate tax contributors in 2015 in the V1000 ranking announced in October this year.

Bao Viet has received various other awards, including the Sustainability Report Award of the State Securities Commission, the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, and Dau tu Chung khoan in the framework of the Annual Report Awards 2013.

Bao Viet is also among the first Vietnamese companies to receive the Global Reporting Initiative’s certificate, which shows adherence to the organisation’s guidelines on sustainability reporting.

Recently, Bao Viet’s consolidated annual report and 2015 sustainability report were nominated for six out of the 15 categories at the Asia Sustainability Reporting Awards (ASRA). The winners will be announced in Singapore at the end of this month. ASRA is organised by CSRWorks International to honour companies that lead in sustainability reporting and responsible business practices in Asia.
