Under the agreement, AIH's Orthopedic Centre and Oncology Centre will screen, diagnose, and treat patients with these conditions at international levels. The centres will benefit from the expertise of AIH’s experienced medical team and top specialists from Raffles Hospital Singapore, who will provide joint consultations via video conferencing and regular visits to Vietnam.
Orthopedic patients will have access to advanced surgical techniques, including joint replacements and spinal surgeries, at both AIH’s Orthopedic Centre and Raffles Hospital Singapore. Oncology patients will benefit from remote second opinions in radiology and pathology, as well as cutting-edge treatments such as robotic surgery, proton therapy, and participation in clinical trials where appropriate.
Senior specialists providing services at the AIH Orthopedic and Oncology Centres include Dr. David Wong, Orthopedic surgeon at Raffles Hospital Singapore with 30 years of experience in spinal conditions, and Prof. Dr. Saijo Yasuo, oncologist at AIH and former head of Medical Oncology at Hirosaki University, with 40 years of oncology experience.
Other specialists include Dr. Brendan Chia, clinical director of the Cancer Radiotherapy Department at Raffles Hospital Singapore, and M.Sc.Dr. Nguyen Hong Trung, medical director of AIH and specialist in musculoskeletal disorders, with over 30 years of experience.
To ensure the centres meet international standards, Raffles Hospital Singapore will share best practices and audit clinical service delivery at AIH. The hospital will also adopt international clinical and imaging protocols from Raffles’ Radiology Department. AIH’s laboratory services will be enhanced through the adoption of the External Quality Assurance (EQA) Programme, with support from Raffles' CAP-accredited laboratory.
In addition to enhancing patient care, the collaboration will promote professional development and education through clinical exchanges, joint seminars and webinars, and observerships at Raffles Hospital Singapore for AIH doctors. Both institutions will explore opportunities for clinical research, including clinical trials and translational research, in Singapore and Vietnam.
Nguyen Thi My Linh, CEO of AIH said, “AIH aims to break down barriers in healthcare, providing seamless, high-quality services. Our partnership with Raffles Hospital Singapore brings international-standard care closer to Vietnamese patients, enhancing the country’s healthcare system.”
This collaboration offers significant benefits, particularly as Vietnamese citizens spend approximately $2 billion annually on overseas medical treatments, often seeking advanced care in countries like Singapore.
