Since its inception, the annual investment summit has attracted thousands of international companies and generated more than $98 billion in new ventures through a one-stop shop platform designed to connect qualified foreign companies and investors with US economic development organisations representing state and local governments from across the United States and its territories.
“The US is the largest consumer market in the world and is a great choice for any Vietnamese company looking to go global,” said Stephen Green, counsellor for commercial affairs at the US Embassy in Hanoi. “Over the four days of the SelectUSA Investment Summit, companies can make connections and gather the information needed to start growing in the US.”
"Since 2016, Vietnamese businesses have invested hundreds of millions of dollars in the US after participating in this summit. This year, there will be around 2,300 international participants coming from 83 international markets, all looking for investment and cooperation opportunities in key industries such as business and professional services, information and communication technology, energy, automotive, healthcare, and financial services," said Ambassador Knapper.
Participants will also have the opportunity to hear from US cabinet members about doing business in the US, as well as meet with key representatives from the economic development teams of various governors and mayors from across the country.
Another highlight of the summit is 'SelectUSA tech' for eligible startups with innovative technology products and services that are planning to expand to the US within the next two to three years.
Last year, it saw a record of more than 500 early-stage companies attend the summit, including women entrepreneurs from 30 international markets. More than 75 tech startups from 33 markets participated in nine pitching sessions, with 85 mentors from the US startup ecosystems also attending the event.
The US has been ranked as the number one destination globally for foreign direct investment for over a decade, and is currently home to more overseas funding than any other country in the world.
The 10th SelectUSA Investment Summit aims to build on the momentum from the US – Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and is being hailed as yet another initiative to increase trade and commerce between the two countries.
