Vietjet would hand over the adjustment of Tuy Hoa Airport without conditions |
Accordingly, Vietjet will study and adjust the planning of Tuy Hoa Airport until 2030, with a vision to 2050. The company will re-evaluate the approved planning in 2007 and adjust expenditure plans to be in line with the development orientation of the national airport system. After the detailed adjustment of Tuy Hoa airport, Vietjet will hand over the document to the government without any conditions.
Previously, from 2016, Vietjet proposed Phu Yen People’s Committee to approve the policy of investment in upgrading Tuy Hoa Airport. It aims to help the province achieve rapid socioeconomic development, especially a surge in travel and tourism demand.
In mid-2018, Vietjet submitted an official proposal to Phu Yen People’s Committee. Based on this proposal, the provincial People’s Committee has reported to prime minister and Ministry of Transport (MoT) about the investment plans in Tuy Hoa airport.
According to the MoT’s decision, Tuy Hoa is a level 4C airport, level 1 military airport, with a capacity of 100,000 passengers and 1,000 tonnes of cargo per year. By 2025, the airport will accommodate 300,000 passengers and 2,000 tonnes of cargo per year.
According to the prime minister’s Decision No.236/QD-TTg dated February 23, 2018 approving the adjusted the planning for the development of air transport by 2020 and the orientation towards 2030, Tuy Hoa airport will have a designed capacity of about 600,000 passengers per year by 2020 and three million passengers by 2030.
At present, the MoT is implementing the master plan on the development of the national system of airports in 2021-2030, with vision to 2050. Accordingly, Tuy Hoa airport will have a capacity of three million passengers per year by 2030 and five million passengers by 2050. This master plan is expected to be submitted to the prime minister for approval in 2020.
