Viatris Vietnam opens its second office in Hanoi |
This is Viatris’ second office in Vietnam following the launch of its corporate office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2021. With this launch, Viatris Vietnam aims to accelerate the expansion of patients’ access to medicine and build upon its strong foundation of successful partnerships to improve patient health and support communities.
Commenting on the opening, Eunice Cho, the company's country manager said, “Viatris’ presence in Vietnam is strategic for the company to achieve its mission of empowering people worldwide to live more healthily at every stage of their life. In addition to seeing good growth potential for the company, we understand that our performance in Vietnam is important to meet health needs and ensure access to quality medicines."
"We work to promote responsible and sustainable operations and I am extremely confident of future opportunities and the value we expect our company to create for our patients, employees, customers, and the entire Vietnamese society," added Cho.
Viatris Vietnam has a broad product portfolio of treatment options for non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and infectious diseases including a continued focus on localisation efforts through technology transfer of Off-Patent Originator (OPO) and COVID-19 treatment drugs.
In Vietnam, the rising burden of NCDs is a major health concern, accounting for 77 per cent of deaths in the country. Cardiovascular diseases account for most NCD fatalities with 31 per cent, followed by cancer with 19 per cent, chronic respiratory diseases with 6 per cent, diabetes with 4 per cent, and other non-communicable diseases making up the remaining 18 per cent.
Strengthening its commitment to the Vietnamese community, Viatris Vietnam established partnerships with various stakeholders, including government agencies and leading hospitals, with a focus on improving access to medicine, public awareness, disease screening, and healthcare provider education.
The company’s partnerships with the Vietnam Heart Association, the Vietnam Internal Medicine Association, and the Vietnam Association of Diabetes and Endocrinology elevate the delivery of medical education and provide healthcare professionals with the latest information and advanced treatment guidelines through scientific conferences and webinars.
Advancing patient access further, the Vietnam team also launched the Golden Star Health Programme and its continuous SCORE-VN App. Designed for early detection and better disease management, the SCORE-VN App is aimed to better equip general physicians across small hospitals and clinics to evaluate and identify patients at risk.
Over the past year, the programme delivered screening model training on cardiovascular diseases and diabetes to 1,000 doctors, facilitating the screening of nearly 28,500 people and diagnosing around 5,300 patients. The Golden Star Health Programme was launched in partnership with the Vietnam Heart Association.
Viatris Vietnam also collaborated with the government and the Ministry of Health in the fight against the pandemic, bringing millions of doses of Remdesivir to meet the urgent treatment needs of Vietnamese patients.
