Tra Vinh determined for 2030 tourism breakthrough

Tra Vinh leaders promote the province’s tourism and agro products

According to Tra Vinh Department of Culture, Tourism, and Sports, the sector is gaining momentum thanks to the careful preparation of related businesses.

Last year’s figures indicated that there were over 1.4 million visitors coming to the province with revenues of almost $38 million, counting for 57 per cent of the target assigned for 2025.

To help Tra Vinh’s tourism industry bloom into an important economic sector by 2025, and an economic spearhead by 2030, the department said it is necessary to have a vast number of practical encouraging policies and creative solutions from both local authorities and the business community.

Each locality is expected to build at least one hotspot destination based on its specific strengths. For example, Tra Vinh city is placing investment in building a green tourism hub, while Duyen Hai town and district is focusing on marine ecotourism and wind energy fields.

Meanwhile, Cau Ngang district is concentrating on exploring fishing and aquatic breeding villages, as well as offshore islets; Tra Cu district is building ethnic cultural tourism products along with handicraft villages; and Chau Thanh and Tieu Can districts are exploring their cultural and agricultural treasures to promote community-based tourism.

Tra Vinh also needs to invest in unique tourism products based on the Khmer culture, promoting cultural and historical tours to sites such as Ao Ba Om and Bo Luy relics, Lo Gach Pagoda, and the authentic rural area of Chau Thanh district.

The province also desires to create a flexible and practical mechanism for attracting investors to develop luxury leisure tourism and hospitality products in pristine destinations including Ao Ba Om cultural site, Ba Dong’s beaches, and Hang Duong My Long ecotourism site in Cau Ngang district.

Initiatives aim to stimulate investing in waterborne transport infrastructure between Tra Vinh and Con Dao, thereby broadening the scope of the tourism market for the province.

Tra Vinh holds a distinct geographical advantage as it stands closest to Con Dao from the mainland. This strategic location should consequently facilitate an increased influx of investment opportunities in the hospitality sector, catering to 4-star and 5-star hotels and paving the way for the advancement of business and events tourism.

The department adds that the province must create many more training courses to raise public awareness of the role of the tourism economy; and improve professional qualifications for management staff and workforce in the tourism industry to meet the increasingly tough requirements.

Also, the province is being asked to take full advantage of official media and social media channels to promote its image and strength in order to build up a comprehensive smart tourism framework for its localities.
