In addition to amendments concerning several goods, services subject to special consumption tax (SCT) such as cigars, alcohol, cars with fewer than 24 seats, among others, the draft law on SCT amended has included beverages with sugar content exceeding 5g/100ml, according to Vietnamese standards (TCVN), into the list of SCT-able items. This aligns with guidelines from the Party and government, as well as recommendations from the World Health Organization on consumer health protection.
