The event marks the comprehensive partnership between the two sides to enable cancer patients to access advanced therapies.
The contents of the cooperation between Roche Pharma Vietnam and the University Medical Centre Ho Chi Minh City (UMC) include improving the capacity and knowledge of medical staff in diagnosis, treatment, and care for cancer patients.
Another cooperation effort is connecting, integrating, and participating in cooperation activities with domestic and international agencies and organisations in the field of oncology.
Other cooperation areas are implementing patient and community-oriented activities; developing and implementing the liver cancer project (2022-2024); as well as conducting research to collect data for treatment and patient care.
Prof. Dr. Truong Quang Binh, deputy director of the UMC said, "In cancer diagnosis and treatment, with the support of imaging and pathology, surgery is considered one of our greatest strengths. Every year, the hospital receives and treats many patients with different cancer diseases. Therefore, we hope that the cooperation between the hospital and Roche Pharma Vietnam will help improve the functions of cancer patients, bring treatment efficiency, and create many benefits for patients. To facilitate the goal, the parties need to closely coordinate, develop in-depth expertise, continuously improve the diagnostic and treatment capacity of medical staff, and at the same time have many scientific projects and research to lay the basis for a master plan in the future."
Over the past few years, Roche Pharma Vietnam and the UMC have cooperated to enhance healthcare professionals’ treatment competence and experience for medical staff through Continuous Medical Education, domestic and international conferences, and patient and community support programmes.

Over the past few years, Roche Pharma signed MoUs with the Vietnam General Medical Association to improve access to innovative therapies for high-risk breast cancer patients in Vietnam, with the Department of Medical Examination and Treatment for a liver cancer management programme, and frontline hospitals.
These cooperation projects involved training and improving treatment expertise, strengthening diagnostic and clinical research capacity at the hospitals in oncology and implementing key projects on breast cancer and liver cancer.
In addition, Roche Vietnam has also joined forces with the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Family Physicians to operate the informative website buoctiep.vn that is available for the public, covering topics about cancer, haematology, and rare diseases.
The website aims to help patients and their relatives access official and scientifically verified information on diagnosis, care, and timely treatment, thereby raising the community’s awareness and understanding of cancer and rare diseases to reduce the healthcare burden of these diseases.
