Bai Mon-Mui Dien
Bai Mon, bordered by Mui Nay in the north and Mui Dien in the south, comprises over 400-metres of coastline, featuring a sloping sand bank and pure waters with gentle waves.
Mui Dien is also called Dai Lanh Cape, Ke Ga Cape or Cap Varella. On top of Dai Lanh Cape a beacon is one of eight of 100 years plus in age currently in operation throughout Vietnam. The beacon is the oldest covering international territorial waters.
Here, visitors have a chance to climb to the beacon site for amazing ocean views. They can also take a night to enjoy the fresh air, delicious authentic seafood, and listen to the sound of the surf before welcoming the first sunlight to hit Vietnam’s mainland territory.
Ganh Da Dia (Cliff of Stone Plates)
Ganh Da Dia, in Tuy An district’s An Ninh Dong commune, is around 40 kilometres from vibrant Tuy Hoa city. At around 50m wide and over 200m long, Ganh Da Dia is an unparalleled venue in Vietnam.
Here, shiny black stones stand upright in columns. Linked tightly together, each stone has a hexagonal or octagonal-shape and is half underground and half floating in the whispering blue of the sea water.
Contiguous to Ganh Da Dia is a three kilometre beach fronted by clear blue sea water - an ideal place to set up an ocean-front upscale resort. Ganh Da Dia has a wild beauty and a pure environment, not yet affected by tourism operators.
Xuan Dai bay
Pristine Xuan Dai bay, around 45km north of Tuy Hoa city, is recommended as one of most beautiful bays in the world. The bay is a remarkable sightseeing spot in Phu Yen, where scenic natural charms can be found, including Ganh Den, Ganh Do, Ganh Ba, and beaches can also be found at Binh Sa, Bai Than, Bai Bang, Tu Nham, Nhat Tu Son.
During war time, Xuan Dai bay witnessed many important historical events. Vung Lam, part of the bay, used to be the most animated commercial port in the province and a gateway linking Phu Yen to the outside world. Just come to Phu Yen to be indulged in its unique beauty.
Vung Ro bay
Vung Ro bay is accessible to 5,000+ dead weight tonnage ships. The bay consists of scores of inlets like Bai Lach, Bai Mu U, Bai Chua, Bai Bang, Da Bia-Vung Ro-Deo Ca which are historical, cultural and tourism venues in the province.
Notably, this is an important stopover which was part of the legendary sea-based Ho Chi Minh Trail which received several hundred tonnes of weapons carried by Doan Tau Khong So from the north to support the southern battle-field during war time.
Stunning beaches
Several dozen romantic beaches spread along Phu Yen’s coastline where the meeting of mountains and sea provides wonderful backdrops.
Next to eucalyptus fields and green coconut forests are sand dunes and calm seas, ideal for refreshment and entertainment.
Stone musical instruments
Tuy An lithophone is a musical instrument made using eight slabs of stone.
It dates back around 2,500 years and was unearthed in 1992 at a mountain (Nui Mot) in Tuy An district’s An Nghiep commune. This is reportedly the best sounding lithophone ever found in Vietnam.
Ken Da (a stone-made horn) was discovered in late 1995 in Tuy An district’s An Tho commune and dates back 2,500 years. It has two holes with a spiral edge inside, allowing different pitches to be produced.
O Loan lagoon
O Loan lagoon lies next to national highway 1A, at the foot of Quan Cau pass around 25km north of Tuy Hoa city. Looking down from Quan Cau pass, O Loan lagoon looks like a spreading eagle.
Here, you have the chance to try a variety of seafood specialties like oysters, scallops, crab and prawns. O Loan lagoon’s traditional boating competition takes place on the seventh day of the first Lunar new month every year, reflecting the province’s distinctive traditional culture. The event attracts thousands of visitors.
Thap Nhan, a national architectural and artistic relic site
Thap Nhan (Nhan Tower), built in late century XI, is a big tower built by the Cham people. The tower is quadrilateral and 23.5m in height. There are three main parts: the support, the body and the roof. The tower gate faces the east.
Nui Nhan-Song Da Rang (Nhan Mountain-Da Rang River) is regarded as Phu Yen’s symbol, with a wide range of cultural, music and song performances, and entertainment activities during festive and Lunar New Year occasions every year.
Notably, a poetry festival (Hoi Tho Nguyen Tieu) takes place there every year on the 15th day of the first Lunar New Year, attracting scores of artists and visitors.
Da Bia Mountain
Da Bia Mountain or Thach Bi Son, is 706m high with a colossal 76m high rock at the mountain top. The mountain is attached to myriad legends and myths.
Most famous is that of King Le Thanh Tong in 1471. When attempting to expand the country area to the south, he carved lines on a big rock on the mountain top. Since then, the mountain has carries the name of Da Ba Mountain or Thach Bi Son.
A race to climb to the mountain peak takes place in March every year. Visitors have to travel more than two kilometers up 2,071 steps to reach the peak. There is a rest stop every 300m along the journey for visitors to relax and admire the beauty of the nature.
