Royal Philips, a global leader in health technology based in the Netherlands, last week introduced its latest innovations in radiology at the 21st annual scientific congress on “Radiology and nuclear medicine”, organised by the Vietnam Radiation and Nuclear Medicine Society.

At the event, Philips highlighted its new portfolio of innovative imaging systems, intelligent software applications, and associated services. These solutions connect people, data, and technology to achieve the quadruple aim of improved outcomes, enhanced patient experience, increased staff satisfaction, and lowered cost of care delivery.

“With pressing clinical, operational, and financial challenges faced by healthcare systems globally and in the region, there is an increased demand for more seamless, integrated solutions that enable more precise diagnosis and treatment,” said Hugo Luik, country manager, Philips Vietnam. “By providing innovations in radiology to enable precision diagnosis and enhance productivity, Philips aims to improve patient care and drive better health outcomes among the people in Vietnam.”

Supporting diagnostic confidence

Philips IntelliSpace Portal is an advanced visualisation and analysis solution that is designed to help physicians to diagnose, follow-up, and communicate across clinical domains and modalities, with one seamless, connected workflow.

The latest version, Philips IntelliSpace Portal 11, further extends the clinical innovation of the Portal, with enhancements to improve workflow efficiencies, bridging secure data sharing between systems within the hospital network to address the security and privacy needs of customers globally.

Philips IntelliSpace Portal 11 also offers an innovative, seamless integrated portfolio of clinically rich applications for Neurology, Oncology, and Cardiology domains.

Lowering the cost of care and improving efficiency

Philips’ Ingenia Ambition 1.5T MR is the latest advancement in the Ingenia MRI portfolio. The portfolio comprises fully-digital MRI systems, healthcare informatics, and a range of maintenance and life cycle services for integrated solutions that break down diagnostic boundaries by delivering speed, comfort, and confidence, all with the aim to help improve patient care and deliver a step-change in productivity.

It also includes Philips Compressed SENSE, an advanced acceleration application that reduces exam times by up to 50 per cent.

Incorporating Philips’ breakthrough BlueSeal fully-sealed magnet, the Ingenia Ambition is the world’s first MR system to enable helium-free operations, reducing the chance of potentially lengthy and costly disruptions, and virtually eliminating dependency on a commodity with an unpredictable supply.

BlueSeal does not require a vent pipe and is about 900kg lighter than its predecessor, significantly reducing the siting challenges presented by conventional magnets and lowering construction costs.

Introducing innovative lifecycle management with Tube for life guarantee

The newest addition to Philips’ diagnostic imaging portfolio, Incisive CT integrates innovations in imaging, workflow, and lifecycle management, helping healthcare providers to improve the CT experience for patients and staff, enable smart clinical decision-making, and increase efficiency.

With its industry-first “Tube for Life” guarantee, Philips will replace the Incisive’s X-ray tube – a key component of any CT system – at no additional cost throughout the entire life of the system, potentially lowering operating expenses.

Advances in workflow on the scanner and console, as well as the reading room, help improve the patient’s experience through every step of their scan. The Incisive CT also supports a higher level of scanning consistency across the different members of the system’s operating team, with a recent study showing the system reduced scanning time by 19 per cent.

Incisive CT features DoseWise Portal, a web-based dose monitoring solution that collects, measures, analyses, and reports patient and staff radiation exposure, assisting in control of quality of care, efficiency, and patient and staff safety.

In addition, the Incisive CT’s 70kV scan mode allows for improved low-contrast detectability and confidence at low dose, which can help staff feel confident about managing dose without sacrificing image quality.

Incisive CT also seamlessly integrates with Philips IntelliSpace Portal to offer post-processing for complex cases, enabling radiologists to access advanced analysis tools all in one comprehensive system.
