NVM Group general director Huynh Minh Quan tells VIR’s Song Ngoc that this event highlights the group’s tremendous market expansion since its establishment eight years ago in Ho Chi Minh City.

In the current volatile economy, do you anticipate specific opportunities and challenges for NVM Group to expand its footprint to the northern market?

Founded in 2003,  NVM Group’s spectrum of services focus on three  fields: human resources (HR) consulting, HR outsourcing and HR training. Foreseeing the huge potential of consulting and outsourcing industry in Vietnam and dedicated to contributing to the development of the country, founders of NVM Group placed their first step into the industry with expectations to support business organisations to foster their management system and personnel in order to stay competitive. With over eight year experience, we have been widely recognised as one of the leading HR consulting & outsourcing companies in Vietnam, which is proved by a strong portfolio of multinational, large foreign and local and blue chip companies in Vietnam.

It is the time for us to be present officially in Hanoi, after quite a long time being remote from this potential market. Now we can provide better services to our clients. We have confidence to provide different and good human HR services to this high-demanded market. Our extensive experience and professional system will help us quickly overcome current local economic challenges. Challenges sometimes are opportunities. We face and quickly overcome challenges and we will come out as being a choice of the best service provider for clients.

What are the niche strengths that enable NVM Group to stay out of fierce competition in this growing HR consulting and outsourcing market in Vietnam?

Being a consulting company, we understand that every insight we identify, every advice we impart and every solution we define have great impact on your business performance and success. We recognise these responsibilities and take them seriously. All of our members are committed to and complied with a code of ethics.

With a deep understanding of the market, we have defined our market and we work hard to make it broader. Our strengths are focused on people, technology and processes. Our own system   built in-house, our experience in HR services of the company as a whole as well as each of our staff,  our high request on service level standards that meet the international ones, all of these aim to bring the business effectiveness to our clients via our excellence in operation.

Payroll outsourcing is one of your premier business segments. While in Vietnam, payroll is a relatively sensitive corporate issue, how have you witnessed changes in the concept of local firms outsourcing payroll management?

In long term, local firms are definitely our key target. But at the moment as well as for several years, the majority of the local companies still prioritise the objectives of market development. In other words the actual benefits from the payroll management services is not yet appealing to them. I definitely believe that after this turmoil time, Vietnamese firms should be stronger, setting more solid base for their further development strategies, and then they will change their mind on the usage of the payroll services. As far as local firms recognise the true value of operation excellence that makes their business effective, they will need this solution.

We see that listed firms are also among your targeted customers. Are the current ups-and-downs of the stock markets and listed firms partly posing a great challenge to your business?

The up-and-down market impacts all players on the market, including us. In such  hard times, there are some who want to be on the safe side while some others try their best to rebuild their base. This means that there are some very good opportunities for our business. How great is it? It still depends.

What are your thoughts about the local HR market, particularly with the C-level segment, next year which is forecasted to be a gloomier economic picture?

There is a serious shortage of sources of successors for C-level segment in Vietnam at the moment as well as for several years to come. So it means that the role of C-level and board of directors in companies become more critical and it is quite a tough task for us.
