Citi Vietnam has supported local efforts to combat the pandemic and its impacts in Ho Chi Minh City. The bank responded effectively through philanthropic means as well as through its core business activities.
“This Certificate of Merit is recognition for the whole team in supporting our clients and communities to overcome the challenges presented by the outbreak of COVID-19,” said Ramachandran A.S., country officer for Citi Vietnam.

In Ho Chi Minh City, Citi contributed nearly $50,000 in the form of medical equipment to Thong Nhat Hospital to facilitate the fight against the pandemic. The equipment comprised 14 intensive care unit beds, which helped the hospital increase its capacity to effectively treat patients who were battling the virus and those with other diseases.
Citi Vietnam also contributed an estimated $26,090 in medical equipment to Dong Da District Health Centre in Hanoi to accelerate the rollout of vaccinations.
In 2021, Citi’s Global Community Day activities in Vietnam also focused on acts of kindness and virtual and digital volunteering to address the global issues that resulted from the pandemic and food insecurity.
In Ho Chi Minh City, the bank prepared food trucks for hospitals and quarantine areas to help frontline health workers. Citi also provided nutritious meals together with wheelchairs, medicines, masks, sanitisers, and magazines for nursing homes.
Since the pandemic hit in 2020, Citi supported the Emergency support for COVID-19 disease prevention project in Vietnam with a total budget of $100,000 and provided personal protection equipment to 40 community health stations across 10 suburban districts around Hanoi.
In 2021, Citi received the CSR Award from Amcham Hanoi and the Significant Contribution Award for Covid Relief and Recovery in Vietnam by Amcham Ho Chi Minh City. Both awards recognised the commitment of Citi to assist local communities during such a challenging time.
