Help has come in the form of products and cash through auctions and other support initiatives

The sum contribution by September 18 included over $158,000 in cash and around 11,700 cartons of instant noodle products worth $50,000.

After receiving information that Typhoon Yagi would make landfall in North Vietnam earlier in the month, Acecook Vietnam contacted the Department of Dyke Management and Natural Disaster Prevention and Control to come up with plans to support people in coping with the storm, and quickly donated 6,000 cartons of products. Relief vehicles arrived promptly to provide Acecook’s essential products to people in storm and flood areas.

The Japanese company also coordinated with other media to support the needy. For example, it worked with Vietnam Television to provide $81,500 to help households rebuild in Lang Nu village in the northern province of Lao Cai after severe flooding took place.

Acecook also contributed $8,200 to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front through the successful auction of paintings in a fundraising programme.

In addition to donating money and products, the company also applied a non-profit sales policy for agencies and departments that need to purchase Acecook products to provide emergency relief for people in affected areas.

The Trade Union Executive Committee of Acecook Vietnam called for joint efforts from all employees of the company to donate money to the cause, raising more than $12,500. All of the proceeds will be transferred to Nguoi Lao Dong newspaper to arrange programmes to support people affected by the typhoon and floods.

Acecook Vietnam is resuming the operation of its factories in Northern Vietnam after the typhoon. For a time, factories were forced to use generators to resume production as soon as possible and maintain maximum supply of goods to the market. However, due to complicated developments after the storm in many northern areas, deliveries encountered many difficulties. Even so, the company strived to transport relief products to needy destinations as soon as possible.

A company representative said Acecook Vietnam will continue to make every effort to provide adequate products at stable prices to ensure no distribution disruptions for this essential source of goods. It will also continue to participate in activities to support needy people in rebuilding and stabilising their lives after natural disasters.
