PM Dung on May 29 received Country Director for Viet Nam Victoria Kwakwa to exchange measures to accelarate the cooperation between Viet Nam and the institution.
He said he was pleased with practical and effective cooperation between the two sides.
PM Dung briefted his guest of China’s illegal placement of its drilling rig Haiyang Shiyou-981 in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone, noting that the act has violated international law, including the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
The move has threatened peace, stability, security and safety of navigation in the East Sea. It had sparked spontaneous protests in some localities during which a number of individuals were incited to commit wrongful actions like destroying assets of businesses, including foreign ones.
Viet Nam has promptly launched support policies to help these businesses, added the PM.
The PM asked the WB to cooperate with other relevant agencies of Viet Nam to set up specific projects sponsored by the WB in the future.
Ms. Victoria Kwakwa highly valued the efforts of the Vietnamese Government in dealing with the recent disturbances to help affected businesses stabilize their operation and production, creating belief for foreign investors in Viet Nam.
She asserted that the WB will cooperate with the Vietnamese Government to support the affected businesses and improve the investment environment.
