Deputy PM Minh warmly welcomed the official visit of Mr. Ri Su Yong when the two sides are preparing for the 65th anniversary of their diplomatic ties (January 31, 1950-January 31, 2015).

Viet Nam, said the host leader, always respects for and hopes to strengthen the friendship and cooperation with the DPRK.

He also hoped that the two sides maintain exchanges of delegations at ministerial level to strengthen mutual understanding and seek ways to cement and deepen cooperation in the aspects of economics, trade, culture and sports.

For his part, Minister Ri Su Yong expressed his pleasure to visit Viet Nam for the first time and witness Viet Nam’s socio-economic achievements.

The traditional friendship between Viet Nam and the DPRK, which was built and nurtured by Eternal President Kim Il-sung and Great President Ho Chi Minh, is a valuable asset of the two peoples, said Minister Ri Su Yong.

The guest leader hoped that the two Foreign Ministries serve to promote the bilateral ties, work with each other on global and regional issues.

Both sides also took the occasion to talk international and regional issues of common concern, including the Korean Peninsula and East Sea.   The two sides held talks in a friendly and straightforward atmosphere.
