The signing between the Malaysian firm and the affiliate of the Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) was a follow-up to the Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties in 2009.

The Malaysian multi-sectored Toyo Ink has also been given the green light by the Vietnamese government to be the investor of the project which is located at Song Hau Power Center in Chau Thanh District after showing special attention to Vietnam’s electricity sector.

The coal-fired plant with annual capacity of 2,000 MW will use import coal once put into operation by 2018.

PECC2 is one of the leading energy industry consultancy companies in Vietnam specializing in providing consultancy services and design surveys for hydropower and thermal power projects.

In the next decade, the electricity sector will need some $39.58 billion to build 95 power plants with a total capacity of 50,000 MW nationwide.
