Many supermarkets in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City announced to extend opening hours on the last day of the lunar year to 10-11pm and operate throughout the Lunar New Year holiday to serve the shopping needs of people.

According to AEON Vietnam, the number of customers coming to shop at all AEON stores and supermarkets nationwide has increased sharply in the last two weeks before Lunar New Year and is expected to continue to increase in the next few days.

Bui Trung Chinh, purchasing manager of Food Industry at AEON Vietnam shared, “With the positive signs of the market, we expect purchasing power this year to increase by an average of 20 per cent compared to the previous year.”

AEON stated it will continue to keep the tradition of operating throughout the Lunar New Year. The chain will open its stores on the first day of the year at 11am. On the following days, AEON will open as usual, with supermarkets opening from 7am to 11pm.

Since the end of last year, AEON Vietnam has been increasing its sources of goods, ensuring adequate supply at stable prices focusing on Lunar New Year items, such as fresh food. At the same time, the retailer implemented many attractive promotions of up to 70 per cent for many products, ranging from food, fashion, and electronics, to home appliances and many more.

Meanwhile, Co.opmart and Co.opXtra also announced an increase in opening hours to serve customers from now until January 31, from 6am to 10pm. On the first days of the Lunar New Year, Saigon Co.op only operates in the morning. From February 6 onwards, all stores will open normally.

Nguyen Ngoc Thang, operation director of Co.opmart, said that from the end of the week, two product groups have seen a rise in demand, that is domestic fruits and nutritious food products, as well as mut tet – traditional dried fruit snacks – with an increase of more than 50 per cent.

Emart Vietnam has also announced a change in the supermarket's operating time. From now until January 30, it will open from 7am to 11pm. On February 1 and 2, the supermarket will be temporarily closed. From February 3, it will return to normal operations from 7.30am to 10.30pm.

Like every year, the Winmart and Winmart+ supermarkets under WinCommerce will operate until 12pm on January 31 and reopen on February 4.
