Sacombank is Asian Banker’s best retail bank in Vietnam

Sacombank has won the Best Retail Bank in Vietnam 2011 Award, organised by Singapore-based company The Asian Banker, for the second year in a row.

The Asian Banker awards presentation ceremony night in Singapore on March 23 brought together the company’s retail banking rankings across Asia-Pacific, Africa, Central Asia and the Gulf region.

A panel of judges, made up of international executives from the banking sector, recognised the Ho Chi Minh City-based bank’s efforts in bringing top retail products and services to its customers.
The Asian Banker said it used a scorecard comprised of 10 dimensions with 37 indicators to evaluate banks on both a country and a regional basis for the Excellence in Retail Financial Services Programme.

The indicators include financial performance, brand, the feasibility of the retail strategy, risk management, diversified products and services, human resources development and information technology.

“We are cognizant that smaller banks may be handicapped in some areas, so only 5 per cent of all indicators favour larger banks,” said the firm, a provider of business intelligence on the financial services.
