He is expected to deliver a speech at the summit to affirm the country’s consistent policy on using nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, ensuring nuclear safety and security, as well as measures which Viet Nam has taken in the summit’s framework to contribute to the concerted efforts of the international community.

PM Dung will also meet high-ranking leaders of some countries on the sidelines of the event.

Consolidating relations with Cuba

PM Dung will pay an official to Cuba from March 26-27 to discuss ways to consolidate the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Cuba.

Both sides will also talk about measures to improve the bilateral economic, trade and investment linkages and exchange views on regional and international issues of common concern.

Deepening ties with Haiti

PM Nguyen Tan Dung and his Haitian counterpart Laurent Lamothe will discuss ways to deepen cooperation between the two countries during the former's official visit to Haiti on March 28.

PM Laurent Lamothe was the first Haiti’s high-ranking leader to visit Viet Nam in December 2012.

The two-way trade value stood at US$42 million in 2013. Viet Nam mainly exports rice, garments, timber, chemicals to Haiti while importing materials for garment production, pulp, and animal feed.
