National Instruments to open first LabVIEW Academy in Vietnam

A strategic partner of the Higher Engineering Education Alliance Programme (HEEAP) in Vietnam, the US-based business (NI) has been embarking on a series of initiatives that support local academia in promoting innovative education.

The NI LabVIEW Academy lab will feature the latest experimental tools for research and teaching. Working with the faculty of HCMC Vocational College, NI will develop classroom curricula and hands-on exercises for students and researchers.

Commenting on the collaboration, HCMC Vocational College rector Nguyen Tran Nghia said “We are pleased to partner with an innovation leader like National Instruments and to house the first NI LabVIEW Academy in Vietnam. With this facility, our students will have the opportunity to “learn by doing”, using technologies that scientists and engineers use in industries worldwide.”

The HCMC Vocational College is public school established in 1999 under the Ministry of Labour (now the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs).

In the last 20 years, the government of Vietnam has been resolute in strengthening the quality of vocational education and training to support economic and social development.

Chandran Nair, managing director of National Instruments in Southeast Asia said ensuring Vietnam’s rapid path to progress requires a strong pipeline of innovative and work-ready future scientists and engineers.

“Vietnam has tremendous potential, and forward-looking institutions that are committed to delivering high standards of education instrumental in fulfilling the country’s economic growth ambition. We greatly value HCMC Vocational College’s partnership in setting up the first LabVIEW Academy in the country,” Nair added.

Since opening its office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2011, National Instruments has grown its presence in Vietnam with customers in industries such as automotive, infrastructure, oil & gas, and electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.

The company is also an active partner of the academia and research community in Vietnam, providing technologies and training support under HEEAP, as well as through direct linkages with a number of tertiary institutions and research agencies.

As part of HEEAP, NI has committed to providing increased access to software, hardware and training for eight engineering universities and technical vocational institutions that are members of the alliance. This includes comprehensive training and certification courses in NI LabVIEW.
