With the holiday cheer now over, it may be common to feel a little down and less enthusiastic this time of year. However, New Year often comes along new opportunities.

So then, lets renew and re-vitalise yourself to achieve as much success as you can this year and make it a great year for advancing your career.

Whether you work in management-level or entry-level, your performance is important to the success of the business. Therefore, building upon the strengths we and our colleagues possess will lead to effective team working and ultimately successful career.

Here are some ideas that we think can benefit you to discover your strengths and put them use in your work and life.

Find your strengths: You can do it by thinking about what you are good at and what you are most comfortable doing. Firstly, make a list of all the responsibilities and expectation of your job and go through that list and highlight things you do extremely well or enjoy doing. Then, study your list and think through on your highlights. You should focus on the direction in which you want your career to move and the skills that you must to sharpen to achieve your career goals.

Focus primarily on building your strengths which affect your path to success: Nobody has expertise in everything. Most of us are great at a few things, so that spend as much as our time and energy develop what you are good at. However, don't let weaknesses pull you down. That is the value of working in team, varieties of skills and knowledge to get the job done. Let's learn and practice better ways of dealing with conflict.

An old saying "Practice makes perfect" is always true. You should remember that no one becomes an expert without practice. You need to seek opportunities to practice your strengths and take advantage from those.

Besides, as a team leader, it's your role to put the right people in the right seats by understanding their strengths and weaknesses. That will help you not only enjoy the journey, but arrive at your destination earlier.
