Aviation security tightened during Party General Secretary’s funeral

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has announced the application of level-1 enhanced security measures at airports, air traffic service providers, airlines, and aviation service companies during the state funeral of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Hanoi – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has announced the application of level-1 enhanced security measures at airports, air traffic service providers, airlines, and aviation service companies during the state funeral of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

These measures take effect from 5:00 pm on July 22 until midnight on July 26.

The CAAV has instructed relevant agencies and units to implement appropriate enhanced security measures based on regulations.

The authority has directed airport authorities in regions across the country, the Airports Corporation of Vietnam, the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation, and Vietnamese airlines to report the implementation of aviation security measures to the email address at avsec@caa.gov.vn daily between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m.

Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong passed away on July 19 afternoon at the age of 80. His state funeral will take place from July 25-26.

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, the National Assembly, the President, and the Government and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front have issued a special communiqué, announcing that General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong passed away at 1:38pm on July 19, 2024, and his funeral will be held as a national mourning.
