AkzoNobel Vietnams employees voted for their workplace to be certified as a Great Place To Work |
Great Place to Work® is the world’s most researched, accepted, and sustainable definition of a great workplace from an employee’s point of view.
Its research shows that great workplaces are characterised by great leadership, consistent employee experience, and sustainable financial performance.
These organisations are able to deliver a consistent experience to all their employees irrespective of their role, gender, tenure or level in the organisation.
At AkzoNobel, investing in people is an integral part of being sustainable. The company’s focus on people covers many different aspects. Focusing on organisational health and fostering an inclusive environment are key activities when it comes to growing its employees.
“As a leading company in sustainability, everything we do starts with People.Planet.Paint. We believe that investing in people is the key to keeping AkzoNobel at the forefront of our industry and growing sustainably. As we all grow and succeed together, we will continue to bring new best practices where we can all perform at our best”, said Bert Jan Oostenbrink, HR director for South Asia Pacific at AkzoNobel.
“Attaining the Great Place to Work® certification at the first round through validation by our own employees has reaffirmed our efforts and the strong commitment to looking after our people."
AkzoNobel has implemented a global people, process, and product safety management programme through which the company strives to ensure that the highest safety standards are applied to its activities and sites.
As a result in 2021, AkzoNobel’s organisational health score increased by 11 points since 2019, and its total reportable injury rate in 2021 reduced by 12,5 per cent as compared with 2019.
The company also developed plans and initiatives to foster a diverse and inclusive culture, strengthen the leadership diversity, and focus on gender balance with the target of 30 per cent female representation at the senior executive level by 2025. Its SpeakUp! reporting website also enables the employees to raise concerns about violations of the Code of Conduct in a confidential manner.
In Vietnam, AkzoNobel currently operates four locations in HCMC, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, and Bac Ninh, supplying products for both Vietnamese and the regional market, and has a workforce of over 1,000 talented employees spread across branches and offices in the country.
Xuan Huong Nguyen, HR director of AkzoNobel Vietnam said, “Deeply embracing AkzoNobel’s core values on people, AkzoNobel Vietnam has always strived to create the best workplace where people feel included, respected, fully engaged, and developed with a High-Trust, High-Performance™ culture. Going forward, we will continue to develop initiatives that benefit our employees and the local communities.”
