Emirates Airline started its daily, non-stop service between the destinations on June 4 with an Airbus 330-200.
To meet growing demand on the route, the airline has upgraded the aircraft to a Boeing 777-300ER, increasing passenger capacity by almost 50 per cent.
“Vietnam is one of the top emerging economies in Asia, and Ho Chi Minh City has been a significant commercial centre and popular tourism destination. We have been welcomed since our launch here, and we look forward to further success in the market.
The upgrade of aircraft on our Ho Chi Minh City service confirms our strong commitment to Vietnam,” said Terry Flynn, Emirates country manager, Vietnam.
All classes of the new aircraft are equipped with Emirates’ award-winning ice entertainment system with more than 1,400 channels on-demand entertainment to choose from, including movies, television programmes, games, audio books and music from across the world.
In addition to carrying more passengers, the operation of the new aircraft will also have a positive impact on Vietnam’s import/export industry.
Emirates SkyCargo, using the Airbus 330-200, had a belly-hold capacity of 17 tonnes in both directions. The B777-300ER has a capacity of 23 tonnes, which means businesses will benefit from an additional 84 tonnes of weekly capacity on the route.
