Bookings are available about two weeks ahead of the carrier’s launch of the first international route.
VietJetAir confirmed on Thursday that it would launch the HCMC-Bangkok service on February 10, or the first day of the Lunar New Year that is better known as Tet in Vietnam, with daily service between the economic hub of Vietnam and the capital city of Thailand.
The new route will connect with VietJetAir’s wide domestic network.
“For residents of Thailand, Vietnam’s largest hub is a gateway to the rest of the country and… exploring Vietnam has never been as easy or as cheap,” said Desmond Lin, business development director of VietJetAir.
VietJetAir’s current domestic network covers HCMC, Hanoi, Dalat, Danang, Phu Quoc, Hue, Nha Trang, Vinh and Haiphong. In addition to the HCMC-Bangkok run, the airline also plans air connections from HCMC and Hanoi to other Southeast and Northeast Asian countries before the end of this year.
Earlier this month, VietJetAir took delivery of a sixth Airbus A320 aircraft as part of its ambitious plan to develop an all-Airbus A320 fleet for launching quality flights with low-cost fares. This private airline will have three to five more planes this year and looks to 15 aircraft by 2015.
