With its numerous implementations of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives this year, SABECO has been once again named among the top sustainable development enterprises in Vietnam.

The rankings were announced by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry through the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI100) in Hanoi on November 29.

CSI100 is regarded as a comprehensive and detailed set of criteria designed to evaluate business operations aligned with sustainable development goals holistically. CSI100 currently consists of six sections and has expanded to 153 indicators, an increase of 23 compared to last year, with the primary changes focusing on environmental aspects.

SABECO's continued recognition on this list not only acknowledges its relentless efforts in the journey towards sustainable development but also reflects its ongoing commitment to improvement and growth. This achievement serves as strong evidence of SABECO's dedication to creating long-term value for the company and its partners while making significant contributions to the nation's overall development.

SABECO has made significant strides in fulfilling its environmental commitments in 2024, notably joining the Vietnam Packaging Recycling Alliance last August. The move underscored its dedication to extended producer responsibility, advancing the company’s sustainable development goals, and to the nation’s green growth targets.

The brewer has focused on optimising resources and energy in production, such as using recycled packaging, recovering and reusing water, and installing rooftop solar power systems. Statistics show that has SABECO successfully reduced water usage to 2.6 litres per litre of beer in 2024, down from 3 litres in 2022, along with lowering total greenhouse gas emissions during the same period. Solar energy usage has doubled over the past two years, with 12 out of 26 factories now equipped with rooftop solar systems.

With a commitment to addressing climate change and continuous efforts to minimise environmental impacts during production, SABECO has also replaced fossil-fuel boilers with biomass-fuelled boilers, significantly reducing carbon emissions. Sustainable packaging initiatives and advanced wastewater treatment systems have also been implemented.

SABECO also strives to enhance the abilities of its employees and their communities through economic, social, and environmental development schemes that improve competitiveness for national athletes and young entrepreneurs in rural areas.SABECO inaugurated a cutting-edge SABECO Beer Research and Development Centre in November to help brewers and young engineers attain the best environment for the process of creating quality products. The centre, a fully automated miniature brewery with full production capabilities, is situated at Nguyen Chi Thanh Brewery in Ho Chi Minh City.

Furthermore, the SABECO Sports Hub - Connecting Vietnamese Spirit initiative, in partnership with the Central Youth Union, promotes a healthy lifestyle and community engagement through sports, culture, and culinary exchanges across 36 provinces in Vietnam. The initiative promotes an active, balanced lifestyle while providing a platform for the community to connect through sports, cultural exchanges, and culinary events.
