Competing teams came from Dang Thai Mai Secondary School in the host province, Tran Dang Ninh Secondary School in Nam Dinh province and Tran Mai Ninh Secondary School in Thanh Hoa province and in the first three sections, the Nam Dinh team took the lead scoring 310 marks.
It surpassed the winner in the first contest on October 14 which came from Thai Nguyen province 30 marks and far outpacing two remaining teams from Nghe An and Thanh Hoa provinces which scored 110 marks and 140 marks, respectively.
In the final session, the team from Nghe An province made a breakthrough when winning entire 100 marks to reach total 210 marks.
With this mark, the Nghe An team beat the second winner Hung Yen team in the first contest which scored 195 marks in total to secure the right to attend northern region’s regional finale slated to take place on November 25, 2012 in Nam Dinh province.
Two other teams joining regional finale round are the Thai Nguyen team (first contest winner) with 270 marks and Nam Dinh team (second contest winner) with 320 marks.
‘Olympia for secondary schools’ programme is hosted in cooperation between Ministry of Education and Training’s Department of High School Education and LG Electronics Vietnam.
In the first year of its trial run, the programme will take place with the participation of competing teams from 18 provinces and municipalities across the country.
The first contest was launched on October 14, 2012 with Thai Nguyen province’s team coming first.
The programme will run until April 2013, before the finale of the 2012-2013 academic year.
