Nguyen Kim Trading Company, a leading retailer in Vietnam, today announced the commencement of its “Appreciation Journey – Powering Tomorrow” community programme.

Accordingly, with support and collaboration of the Primary Education Department under the Ministry of Education and Training and relevant local governments, the “Appreciation Journey – Powering Tomorrow” seeks to contribute to Vietnam elementary education through the building of electronic libraries as well as assisting the needy families of excellent students.

Nguyen Kim will sponsor electronic equipment in the libraries of 21 primary schools with limited facilities, and are located in provinces where Nguyen Kim stores operate.

This is the second time Nguyen Kim has worked with these schools, having previously sponsored water purification systems in 2015.

Nguyen Kim CSR programmes help create better conditions for students living in underprivileged areas to help them access improved learning environment. In addition to this, Nguyen Kim will give away 21 consumer electronics packages including essential items such as electric cookers, fans and so on for needy families of excellent students.

The electronic libraries donated by Nguyen Kim are expected to serve millions of primary students over generations nationally. From now on, students will have chance to access and to explore the vast world of knowledge from computer systems, courtesy of the new TV LED at each school.

“The Ministry of Education and Training deeply appreciates this kind contribution from Nguyen Kim and Central Group Vietnam for primary students. We are all ready to accompany with the programme to set up more electronic libraries and high-tech classrooms, water purification systems which will then bring better learning environment for schools in rural and underprivileged areas,” said Tran Thi Tham, deputy director of Primary Education Department.

“We would like to say thanks to Nguyen Kim, a member of Central Group Vietnam, for providing this very practical support for schools like ours,” said Trinh Thi Le Hang, head master of Dinh An Primary School in the southern province of Binh Duong.

“Last year, the water purification systems funded by Nguyen Kim brought clean water to ensure the health of the students at our school. Today, we are appreciating the continued support with our new electronic library that helps to support both teachers and students,” Hang added.

To show its appreciation for loyal customers, the retailer will make a journey across the country to provide free after-sale service and maintenance for electronic products at 21 Nguyen Kim stores nationwide.

Additionally, Nguyen Kim offers 50 per cent discounts on replacement for parts and components. The company also provides an array of fun and entertaining activities for customers which will take place weekly at Nguyen Kim stores.

“The project has reflected the commitment of Nguyen Kim to giving back to communities and a dedication to improving the quality of life of the Vietnamese people. We specifically focus on education and Vietnamese children. Children are the flag bearers of the nation’s future and Nguyen Kim is recognising that with this programme”, said Philippe Broianigo, chief executive officer of Central Group Vietnam.

Thai giant retailer Central Group became the strategic partner of Nguyen Kim in 2015 through acquiring 49 per cent stake of Nguyen Kim.
