MM Mega Market Vietnam will be the official APEC caterer to many key APEC events

With this deal, MM Mega Market Vietnam has been supplying over 50 tonnes of food products to the hotels. Staple items include Da Lat vegetables and fruits, imported fruits, eggs, pork, salmon, and Asian sea bass, among others.

Phidsanu Pongwatana, managing director of MM Mega Market Vietnam, said: “APEC is a very important international event where the country welcomes many top world leaders, and food supplier selection is a serious business. Being trusted as the main caterer for the events, we know it is a great honour but also a huge responsibility for MM Mega Market. That is why we want to work with the client hotels, taking the highest sense of responsibility there is to achieve a goal higher than profit, which is the reputation of Vietnam itself.”

“All the goods we supply to the APEC must satisfy the highest standards. To be more specific, imported products must go through inspections and come with customs certificates enclosed with the shipping documents. Food products must show clear origins or sources, and fish must be certified by fishing ports. Even the transportation must meet the highest requirements in terms of delivery manpower, as the trucks must be clean and refrigerator trucks must maintain the right temperatures,” added Phidsanu.

As the main supplier for the top APEC 2017 activities, serving about 5,000-6,000 meals throughout APEC, Furama Resort sourced about 80 per cent of the food it serves to customers from MM Mega Market.

Vo Thi Thanh Binh, Furama Resort purchasing manager, informed: “Before and during the APEC, every day, Furama has at least two teams checking food safety. The first one is from the Danang Health Department and the second is from the Ministry of Health, representing the government in cross-checking to make sure that the supplies are unexpired, easily traceable, and have samples stored for 48 hours.”

About choosing the right food supplier for the major international events, Binh said: “Furama had a lot of internal meetings before picking MM Mega Market as the supplier. To ensure the safety of attending world leaders and participants, Furama considers food safety a top priority. We need to know where the food comes from and there must be a certain degree of assurance to serve it to the guests.”

Placing food quality, hygiene, and safety on top, MM Mega Market has three food platforms, a vegetable platform in Da Lat, a fish platform in Can Tho, and more recently, a pork platform in Dong Nai to make sure that farm-to-table control applies to the food products that consumers get their hands on.
