MIC and Microsoft enter MoU to strengthen Vietnam’s IT development

Following this, the two parties will closely co-operate to realise the joint ambitions on the four areas consisting of IT infrastructure, Cyber Security, Cloud Apps Development and Education to assist in the development of IT human resources for Vietnam including working knowledge of infrastructure, security, and software apps development.

In addition to the MOU with the MIC, Microsoft has also signed another MOU with Vietnam Computing Emergency Response Team (VNCERT) – an affiliate of the MIC in order to enhance the cyber security and safety issue given the context of fast-spreading cybercrime in Vietnam.

The signing ceremony is taken place in Hanoi under the witness of Deputy Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Minh Hong; departments of MIC and Mr. Cesar Cernuda - President of Microsoft Asia Pacific, Mr. Jamie Harper – General Manager of Microsoft Southeast Asia, Mr. Vu Minh Tri - General Manager of Microsoft Vietnam and media representatives.

The MIC and Microsoft successfully deployed “Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in 2007-2010” signed in 2007 and first MOU in 2010, which brings positive effects on Vietnam IT development. Following this success, today’s MOU is a continuous affirmation of mutually long-lasting relationship, and also a strong commitment from Microsoft in strengthening Vietnam’s ICT industry, encouraging innovation for economic development and Vietnam’s competitive capacity enhancement in global scale as well. 

IT industry in Vietnam is expected to become a leading, highly competitive and sustainable industry that facilitate for the economic growth.  Within the framework of the MOU, cloud computing is stressed as the key factor that enables Vietnam’s ICT industry take-off, to bridge the gap with advanced countries in the region and in the world.

Today’s has reaffirmed Microsoft’s strong commitments to support Vietnam’s vision to become an IT-advanced country in the world, as well as accelerate the IT development as key factor of the country’s growth and other industries,” said Cesar Cernuda, president, Microsoft APAC.

Due to the internet widespread in Vietnam over the recent years, cyber security is growing into a vital issue given the context of fast-spreading cybercrime in Vietnam. Cyber security is also considered as first priority of the MIC the year 2014. Subsequently, another MOU signing between Microsoft and VNCERT is important to fight against fast-spreading cybercrime in Vietnam.
