Masan Group secures the largest tenor syndicated loan of $600 million

This transaction marks Masan’s largest and longest tenor syndicated loan ever raised. While in syndication, the deal attracted 37 lenders despite several obstacles. The initial target of $375 million was upsized to $600 million on the back of strong market response.

In addition to the recent credit rating upgrade by Moody's and S&P, the outstanding performance of this syndication indicates the strong trust of investors in Masan and the prospects for economic growth in Vietnam. It highlights the nation's strong domestic economy, where the middle class is expanding, and its resilient post-Covid recovery amidst external headwinds.

In a recent analysis, HSBC Global Research predicted that Vietnam would soon join the list of the biggest consumer markets worldwide. In fact, Vietnam is predicted to surpass its Turkish, Thai, and British counterparts in 2030 to become the tenth-largest consumer market.

HSBC Vietnam has teamed up with a number of other financial institutions to provide the loan to Masan.

Commenting on the deal, Stephanie Betant, head of Wholesale Banking at HSBC Vietnam noted, "We are delighted to contribute to the development of Vietnam’s consumer market through this breakthrough deal. Despite the global uncertain environment, we have successfully arranged the fully underwritten transaction to fuel Masan’s passion to uplift the lives of Vietnamese consumers."
