Japan Kyocera Group has just commenced full-scale operation of its $250 million factory in VSIP Haiphong in northern Haiphong port city, starting its first production facility in Vietnam.

The factory, namely Kyocera Document Technology Vietnam Company, was established in July 2011 as the first major company to set up facilities in the VSIP Haiphong, manufacturing printers, multifunctional products, others such as parts and supplies.

In October 2012, the company completed construction of phase 1 of its factory and started production of printers and multifunctional products as originally scheduled, subsequently followed by toner production from April 2013. The company currently employs about 500 local workers.

“We’re very glad to deliver our products from this factory to our customers throughout the world. We’ll contribute to the promotion of prosperity and economic development in this region with the success of this factory,” said Osami Fukao, general director of Kyocera Document Technology Vietnam.

Kyocera Group announces that it aims to expand the production scale of mainly lower segment printers and multifunctional products for SMB offices and developing countries based on KYOCERA’s unique long-life design technology.
