Eye disease treatment cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City’s French-invested FV Hospital and the Singapore National Eye Centre could help save 30 per cent of costs compared with treatment just in Singapore.

Dr. Gerard Desvignes said such cooperation included first-hand examinations at his hospital. If the doctors decide the patient need to go to Singapore, the patient will receive support in the flight schedule and immigration procedures.

In Singapore, SNEC doctors would make eye surgery. The patient would then return to Vietnam for FV doctors to provide post-operation services at the hospital’s eye department. Desvignes said this way would help save the costs.

At the eye diseases workshop April 11 at FV, doctors Edmund Wong and Looh Boon Kwang from Singapore National Eye Centre presented advancements in retinal diseases treatments. They answered questions from the participants and stayed at FV two days for examinations.

Dr. Wong said SNEC was one of the leading eye hospitals in the world and it had applied many modern techniques to treat eye diseases and achieved lots of good results.
