Previously, the prime minister signed Decision No.779/QD-TTg to establish the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund on May 26.
On the following day, the Ministry of Finance announced the account information where funds can be sent to support the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund. The fund accepts contributions in the form of cash and vaccines from benefactors in Vietnam and abroad.
In order to create favourable conditions for organisations and individuals supporting the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund, the SBV requests credit institutions and foreign bank not to charge organisations and individuals contributing to the COVID-19 Vaccine Fund transfer fees on these transactions.

The COVID-19 Vaccine Fund will be audited by the State Audit Office of Vietnam and the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
The Ministry of Finance also emphasised that this fund is established with the goal of receiving, managing and utilising funding, support, and voluntary contributions from domestic and foreign organisations and individuals to assist the state budget in order to buy and import vaccines, as well as research and produce vaccines domestically.
Vietnam needs to buy approximately 150 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine for around 75 million people, with a total estimated cost of around VND25.2 trillion ($1.1 billion).
