Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the suggestion at the April 4 reception for the visiting Belarusian Economic Minister, Nicolai Snopkov.

PM Dung expressed his delight at the fine development of bilateral relations across a variety of areas, particularly in economics, trade, investment, science and technology.

The two countries should realize the outcomes of the 9th session of the Vietnam-Belarus inter-governmental Committee and enhance the implementation of a bilateral agreement on plant quarantine and the signing of an agreement on animal quarantine thus creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese businesses to penetrate the Belarusian market and boost investment and trade, Dung said.

He also called on Belarus to speed up the free trade agreement (FTA) negotiations between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.

For his part, Belarusian Economic Minister Nicolai Snopkov expressed his impression of Vietnam’s development and its efforts to maintain economic growth and reduce poverty.

The guest affirmed that Belarus is willing to cooperate and share its experiences with Vietnam in the areas of its strength such as industrial equipment, automobiles, bridges and roads, chemicals and petro-chemistry.

The country will also continue pushing up the FTA negotiations between Vietnam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan, he added.

Nicolai Snopkov suggested the two countries should set up joint ventures in automobile industry, milk production, telecommunications, and farm produce processing.

He said he hopes that Vietnam will offer the best possible conditions for his country to foster trade and investment with other ASEAN states.
