Amway Vietnam on November 8 kicked-off a child protection project in north central province Thanh Hoa.

The project is the cooperation between Amway Vietnam and the Department of Child Protection and Care under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) and Thanh Hoa Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA).

Amway Vietnam will contribute VND3 billion ($107,142) to provide medical aid, educational and advisory support, vocational and agricultural training to disadvantaged children and their families.

Thanh Hoa is an economically deprived province with a high rate of poor households. It also has a significant number of disadvantaged children including abandoned, disable, HIV-infected or dioxin-infected children.

Amway Vietnam general director How Kam Chiong said the firm was happy to help give the children a new start on life.

This project is part of the second phase of Amway Vietnam’s One by One campaign for children with the message “The journey for Smile and Hope”, implemented via partnership programmes with Department of Child Protection and Care and Operation Smile Vietnam with the contribution of VND5.2 billion ($185,714)

In the first phase (2008-2010), Amway Vietnam cooperated with Operation Smile Vietnam and Hands of Hope with a total contribution of VND2.4 billion ($85,714), helping more than 2.200 disadvantaged children in Vietnam.

The second phase (2011-2013) is expected to contribute significantly to improve the living conditions of children in Thanh Hoa.
