A long-term investment plan

Nowadays, most parents regard an early English education for their kids as a life-time investment. Common criteria for successful English programmes include an international learning environment, inspiring teachers, and a child-friendly curriculum.

“We place a strong emphasis on our child’s foreign language education, as Vietnam is integrating very quickly into the global market. We both believe that investing in English learning will reap great rewards in the long run for Bim, our son. Another goal is that Bim will be top of the class in English after this summer,” said My Ngoc, the mother of six-year-old Bim in Phu Nhuan district, Ho Chi Minh City.

Experts also agreed that to help kids excel in learning English, parents and educational centres should be co-investors. A strong collaboration between parents and professional teaching programmes will create a strong foundation for success in English fluency.

Educational experts point out that conventional teaching styles can be boring and discouraging to children, especially amongst the myriad distractions of the summer season. To avoid this, both parents and educational centres should work to create an inspiring and immersive learning environment that motivates children to study English. Experts also recommend that parents be patient and understanding with regard to their children’s learning ability, as each child is unique and will learn at their own pace. Parents can inspire kids to love English by offering well-deserved compliments whenever their children finish a difficult English exercise or speak a sentence fluently.

Parents are also encouraged to create a positive English environment at home through great books, catchy songs, or short stories. Kids should have an opportunity to immerse themselves in the language, as this will

foster not only their linguistic ability but also their cultural understanding.

Moreover, parents can collaborate with educational centres to co-invest in their children’s English education. This includes signing up for summer English clubs or learning programmes where kids can sharpen their linguistic skills in a fun environment.

A fun summer of English at VUS

After a long search, My Ngoc and her husband Tuan Nam have finally found a great summer school to improve their child’s English ability in a fun and inspiring way. They revealed that their choice is the Superkids Programme 2016, held by VUS for children aged 6 to 11.

“We’re impressed that the Superkids Programme is highly interactive with a wide range of exciting games and songs, all under VUS’ exclusive teaching method called “Imagine Learning”. From what I know, Imagine Learning has been run successfully in the US and has helped children there improve their listening, speaking, and pronunciation skills. The programme also prepares my son to obtain high scores in the Cambridge Young Learners Exams,” said My Ngoc.

Meanwhile, Tuan Nam noted that textbooks for the SuperKids programme have been specifically designed by the Teaching Council to suit children’s learning needs. His son Bim also has the chance to learn about different cultures via a series of fun extra-curricular activities. In 2016, students can also join the VUS “Be A Star Summer Programme”, which includes engaging competitions on English and special talents.

“We were very happy to meet the highly qualified and experienced teaching staff, who are native speakers and Vietnamese teachers. I believe that they can help my son Bim become as fluent as native speakers and gain a solid foundation for further knowledge acquisition. Since starting the programme, Bim has enjoyed singing and speaking in English a lot,” said Nam.

Representatives from VUS noted that the Superkids Programme 2016 has enhanced the school’s commitment to improving children’s English skills. In the future, VUS will strive even harder to be parents’ trusted partner in this crucial long-term investment.
