The Art for Hearts gala dinner and fine art auction, hosted by Ben Thanh Art & Frame, Galerie Nguyen and SOUL Academy of Music and Performing Art and Heartbeat Vietnam of VinaCapital Foundation, was held on December 11 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Over 350 entrepreneurs attended the event, helping raise $230,500 via bidding for nine fine art paintings and direct donation to fund 220 Heartbeat Vietnam’s live-saving surgeries for heart-defected children.

According to Robin King Austin, CEO of VinaCapital Foundation, the organisation team so happy to receive the generosity from all the guests, who have helped to raised enough funding for 230 surgeries and bring hope to over 200 families.

“We thank Ben Thanh Art & Frame and Galerie Nguyen for a wonderful idea, SOUL Academy for the beautiful, heart-warming performances and The Reverie hotel for their kind support to Art for Heart,” said Austin.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Diseases, approximately 10,000 babies in Vietnam are born with heart diseases every year, 50 per cent of whom require surgery in the early stage of life in order to survive.

However, thousands of defected children have not been received timely medical care because of their families’ financial disadvantage. Many of them live in poor localities, hostile from major medical centers.

The Art for Hearts event, inspired by compassion for underprivileged children, aims to call for art lovers to join hands to bring another chance in live for the waiting kids.

The Art for Hearts event outstands for its sublime harmony of painting and music arts.

Heartbeat Vietnam belongs to VinaCapital Foundation, funds life-saving heart operations for the most financially disadvantaged children. So far, over 4,300 kids have been saved by Heartbeat Vietnam since 2006. VinaCapital Group pays all overhead of the foundation so 100 per cent of every VND donate to Heartbeat Vietnam will be used for the programme.

Poor children in Vietnam suffer with no hope as their families lack funds and access to medical care and the associated transportation. VinaCapital Foundation is beginning to look at solutions for all chronic diseases in children, but our focus since inception has been children with congenital heart disease.
