RMIT international university Vietnam has joined forces with a major international accountancy association to support the development of accountancy education in Vietnam.

A memorandum of understanding was signed on January4 between the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the university.

Under the memorandum, ACCA will provide for a scholarship to a top accountancy student each year and support the university’s Accountancy Club.

“We’re delighted to work closely with ACCA in the interests of strengthening professional standards in accountancy in Vietnam, and to support the efforts of our own students to become part of international networks,” said RMIT Vietnam president professor Merilyn Liddell.

RMIT Vietnam, fully owned by RMIT University in Australia, has been operating a undergraduate programme in accountancy for several years at its HoChi Minh City campus and this was extended to Hanoi in 2009.

Beginning in Vietnam in 2001, this year will celebrate RMIT Vietnam’s 10th year of operations in Vietnam.

ACCA is one of the world’s longest standing professional associations with 140,000 members around the world and 400,000 student members.
