The Vietnamese Government chief also welcomed Australia’s enhanced ties with Indo-Pacific countries, including Viet Nam.

The two leaders agreed that the bilateral relationship has been developing well in all fields, especially after the two countries set up comprehensive partnership in 2009.

The Governor-General spoke highly of the prospect of the Viet Nam-Australia relations, saying the Prime Minister’s on-going visit would create new impetus for the comprehensive partnership in the time to come.

Strong developments in economic and trade linkages as well as common perceptions of regional security and politic issues demonstrate that the relations between the two countries have become increasingly stable and solid, noted Governor-General Peter Cosgrove.

He also said that he is deeply impressed with the achievements, positive changes and hospitality in Viet Nam.

The same day, PM Dung also met with the Governor of New South Wales, David Hurley.
