Delegates attending the APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting will be presented Hoi An paper lanterns as sourvenir gifts |
The 24th APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting is expected to welcome about 500 international and domestic participants, including finance ministers, financial officials, and senior members of international financial institutions, including the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.
At the meeting, APEC finance ministers will discuss global and regional macroeconomic and financial developments, while reviewing the financial co-operation process on priority topics through the year and updating on the situation on the implementation of the Cebu Action Plan—a roadmap for a more sustainable financial future for the Asia-Pacific region, which was launched at the 22nd APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting in 2015.
In addition, APEC finance ministers will hold a dialogue session with the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) and senior leaders from a number of large enterprises in the region. On the sidelines of the conference, the ministers will have a closed-door meeting to discuss issues of concern separately.
According to Deputy Chairman of the Quang Nam People’s Committee Le Van Thanh, each delegation joining the 2017 APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting will be presented a souvenir gift of a couple of Hoi An paper lanterns printed with the APEC logo and Quang Nam’s icon.
Along with the 2017 APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting, the province will host a forum on Inclusive Finance, a forum on financial infrastructure development network, a visit of the spouses of the Heads of APEC 2017 delegations, and the Voice of Future Programme. It will also host a Golf Tournament for members of the APEC Business Advisory Council and a Gala Dinner of delegates attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week.
The 2017 APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting is the most important event under the APEC Finance Ministers' Process, which was established by APEC leaders at their first meeting in 1993 to consult on broad economic issues and address some of the economic challenges facing the region.
