The Vietnam-Russia oil and gas JV enterprise (Vietsopetro) drilled their 200 millionth tonne of oil from the Dragon and White Tiger oilfields in the early hours of August 8.

The milestone marks the great efforts made by the JV employees in ensuring the safety and effectiveness of their oil explorations as well as in strengthening Vietnam-Russia ties.

Over the past 30 years, Vietsopetro has overcome significant challenges to complete a giant workload, drilling more than 440 oil wells, developing 40 marine facilities and installing 600km of submarine pipeline.

Its total export value has surpassed US$60 billion, nearly two-thirds of which contributed to the state budget, with Russia drawing profits of $10 billion.

The venture now has a wide range of modern facilities and has become a strong regional and international brand in the oil industry.

Since the beginning of 2012, the JV has extracted 3.68 million tonnes of oil, earning $3.32 billion.
