Uber officially launches in Ho Chi Minh City

Uber, a mobile application which connects drivers and passengers to help users have a luxury car to pick them up to the desired location with a reasonable cost, officially launched in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of July.

Uber rolled in Singapore in February 2013, its first Asian market. Later on, the company began to experiment in many other cities in Asia, and now to Ho Chi Minh City. There are many reasons why Uber chose Ho Chi Minh City, according to the statement. In fact, this has made ​​Ho Chi Minh City the fastest growing city in the history of Uber.

Targeting the Vietnamese market, Uber wants to effectively connect supply and demand in the field of travel service providing.

Uber’s technology director is Pham Thuan, a Vietnamese who has proved himself an inspiring leader, capable of realising extremely difficult software and services. He graduated with a Bachelor in Computer Science and Engineering, a Master in Electrical Engineering / Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

For passengers, Uber gives everyone the feelings of convenience and luxury when having a driver on demand with just one click on the smartphone.

For the drivers and car providers, Uber aims to create more income as well as to build service management tool to improve efficiency via several ways such as its application based on GPS positioning system ensures that the closest car will be coordinated to the passengers, reducing time and fuel costs. Besides, Uber designs and provides online tools and analytical programmes to help drivers easily identify the highly demanded sites.

Uber was founded in 2009 and is headquartered in California, the US. The firm first launched in June 2010, San Francisco and has spread to over 20 cities in 2012.

Presenting in more than 149 cities in 30 countries around the world, including London, Paris, Washington DC, Munich, New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Sydney, Singapore, Bangalore, Manila, Seoul, Taipei , Kuala Lumpur, and now Ho Chi Minh city, Uber wants to bring the solution of modern transportation to the big cities.

Recently, Fast Company Magazine has awarded Uber as the leading company in Creative Innovation in Mobile company category and ranked Uber as the sixth in the list of the most improved companies - higher than Samsung, Google, and Apple.
