“With our new facility in Vietnam, we will further enhance our manufacturing standards and distribution network, not only across the Asia-Pacific region but also the wider global market,” said Richard Hepworth, president of Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure and legal representative of Trelleborg Vietnam. |
The factory is expected to be completed by the end of 2025 and begin operations in 2026.
Phu My 3 Specialised Industrial Park (IP) is central to attracting many industries due to its strategic geographical location near major traffic routes.
It is situated about 60km from Ho Chi Minh City, within easy reach of the Cai Mep-Thi Vai deepwater seaport complex (only 2 km) and just a 30-minute drive from the new Long Thanh International Airport.
In addition, the infrastructure meets international quality standards and provides professional one-stop services, which support investors throughout the project implementation and production process.
Considering these advantages, Trelleborg has decided to locate its factory in Phu My 3, expanding the scale of its operations.
In May, Trelleborg Group announced that it had decided to invest in an entirely new manufacturing facility in Vietnam, mainly focused on marine solutions including construction, infrastructure, and fenders.
The investment is part of a larger restructuring project in which Trelleborg is concentrating its manufacturing in these product areas in Vietnam and China. In the Netherlands and Singapore, sales and design engineering excellence centres are being established to develop tunnel seals and offshore marine infrastructure, such as wind power, the company said.
Peter Nilsson, president and CEO of Trelleborg Group, said that Vietnam is centrally located in Asia with access to a well-educated workforce and good supply chains in the form of global shipping routes.
“Through this investment, Trelleborg is both broadening and concentrating its geographical presence in the region. It will provide us with a more competitive structure and even greater customer awareness,” Nilsson added.
The manufacturing site for marine solutions will be Trelleborg's second facility in Vietnam. At the end of 2023, the company will inaugurate a brand-new manufacturing location for sealing solutions in the country, which will result in a significantly increased production capacity for the engineered seals that are required by several industries.
As the consultation and implementation representative for the project, Le Trong Hieu, senior director of CBRE Vietnam, shared, "The prime geographical location of the new production facility will be an important step to bring long-term growth and development to Trelleborg in the future."
Trelleborg to build modern maritime product manufacturing plant in Vietnam Trelleborg Marine and Infrastructure has set its sights on Vietnam for the establishment of an advanced manufacturing facility, marking a strategic move to expand its presence in Southeast Asia and cater to the growing demand for maritime and infrastructure products. |
